Eligibility:
Funding is available for UK or EU students and applicants should hold a First class or 2:1 Honours degree or Masters level qualification in a relevant biological science.

Scholarship Description: This research aims to understand the mechanism of action of polyphenols and some other dietary bioactive compounds previously identified to be beneficial to health in epidemiological studies. It will underpin approaches to optimise benefit from these diet components. Data obtained will help develop logical diet-based approaches to maintain health in the elderly. The PhD project is funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and will run alongside a newly awarded project grant from the BBSRC under the DRINC initiative.
