Scholarship on Merit cum Need Basis for the students belonging to Minority communities in India -2011

i)Financial assistance will be given to pursue degree and/or post graduate level technical and professional courses from a recognized institution. Maintenance allowance will be credited to the student’s account. The course fee will be paid by the State Department directly to the institute concerned.
ii) Students who get admission to a college to pursue technical/professional courses, on the basis of a competitive examination will be eligible for the scholarship.
iii) Students who get admission in technical/professional courses without facing any competitive examination will also be eligible for scholarship. However, such students should have not less than 50% marks at higher secondary/graduation level. Selection of these students will be done strictly on merit basis.
iv) Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will depend on successful completion of the course during the preceding year.
v) A scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail any other scholarship/stipend for pursuing the course. he annual income of the beneficiary/parent or guardian of beneficiary should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh from all sources.

Scholarship Description: The aim of our research is to explore, to develop and to apply novel optical and spectroscopic strategies to study matter at the nanoscale and at the single molecule level. We follow a methodological approach, which exploits plasmonic resonances of metal nanoparticles resulting in enhanced and highly localized optical fields. Using these near- fields allows us to push spectroscopy to new limits in sensitivity, structural selectivity and lateral confinement. The advertized PhD project will deal with comprehensive characterization and understanding of plasmonic nanostructures and their local electromagnetic fields using optical and electron microscopy approaches

Eligibility:
Candidates should have a master’s degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master’s degree. Experience with wind energy and rotor design, as well as good communication skills are considered advantageous for obtaining the position.

Scholarship Description: The development of new aero-servo-elastic tools for computing the nonlinear steady state of a wind turbine rotor and its stability and frequency-domain characteristics including the controller (e.g. HAWCStab2 by Risø-DTU) have opened new possibilities of combining the design of wind turbine rotors in an integrated process that includes all design parameters of aerodynamics, structural dynamics, and control. The “Light Rotor” project with participation of Risø-DTU and Vestas and a similar project between DTU-MEK and LM Wind Power consider this integrated design problem mainly from an aeroelastic point of view by designing new high lift airfoils for more slender blade designs, but without feedback from the control design.
