In the experimental groups the work focuses on the growth regulator auxin and its interaction with the growth processes cell division and expansion. This work is supported by the development of computer simulation models in the mathematical groups, in which experimental treatments are simulated to make predictions that can be verified experimentally. The combination of experimental and computational expertise will lead to a greater depth of our understanding of the regulation of growth regulation in plants.You develop and implement simulation models of the growth of Arabidopsis leaves. Your research will involve the use of parallel and distributed calculations in the simulator, the applied mathematical techniques in the models and the validation and verification of the simulation.

SensWell is a collaboration between a consortium of three universities in Denmark and a number of Food companies. The PhD project will focus on sensory aspects of foods (flavour and texture) in relation to perceived food satisfaction. Scholarship Description: The SFI Starting Investigator Research Grant (SIRG) Programme provides an opportunity for excellent early-career-stage investigators to carry out independent research in the fields of science and engineering that underpin biotechnology, information and communications technology, and sustainable energy and energy-efficient technologies. The award also provides funding for a postgraduate student, who will be primarily supervised by the Starting Investigator (SI). The SI will work with an associated mentor, who will provide the necessary support and infrastructure for the project to take place. SIRG awards are of €400,000 direct costs for a period of four years; 18 awards are expected to be funded through this Call, which is partly funded through the Marie Curie COFUND Programme. The successful candidate will join a team of researchers developing the PDC Parallel Environment, a programming and runtime environment for highly parallel applications that features adaptive runtime scheduling, online performance monitoring, and an expert system to analyze performance data. Within this framework several projects can be defined based on the background and interest of the candidate.
